It’s A Thing 7.13.18

  1. It’s been super hot this week in Los Angeles. Living in Southern California means that we get beautiful weather 90% of the year and really don’t have to worry about air conditioning or heat most of the time so we actually don’t have it in our apartment. I’ve finally invested in a box fan which has been a lifesaver this week and I am very intrigued by these cooling pillows.
  2. I’m about halfway toward earning the Southwest Companion Pass for 2019.

I have it this year and have been using it for booking a ton of trips. I am desperately trying to figure out how to get the 55,000 points that I still need to earn by the end of the year to get it again. In all my researching I really enjoyed these articles from other bloggers: Southwest Companion Pass – The Greatest Travel Perk Ever, How to Get a Southwest Companion Pass Without Spending $110,000 and Our Companion Pass Begins!

  3. Just found a new deals app called Seated, where you book reservations (or you can do walk-ins) at restaurants and then upload a photo of your receipt. They will give you Lyft, Starbucks or Amazon credit for your dine. I went to a restaurant that was surging this week and got a $15 Lyft credit for my $30 dinner. Such a win! If you want to try it, use my code (STELLA54) for an extra $5 credit added after your first dine.
  4. I’m excited to check out the Blue Apron events happening in Los Angeles this weekend. I’ve been using the service for years and love that they are getting to be such a huge company.

  1. I’m so glad that the “dewy summer” look is still going strong! I’ve completely swapped out any and all face lotions for natural oils (currently a mix of rosehip, cold-pressed marula, and grape seed), which leaves me glowing all day long.2018-07-11 18.52.59
  2. I’ve been doing some deep dive research on 529 plans lately, and was psyched to see The Art of Manliness’ article on just that pop up this week! It also introduced me to this awesome resource: savingforcollege.com
  3. Totally fascinated by this article about fake influencers who scammed their way into freebie hotel stays. Discovered by way of Adventurous Kate!
  4. Now that my (many!) weddings are finally over I am super pumped to have some downtime again. I’ve been lusting after a few different sewing projects, and also want to jump back on needle pointing (thanks to some inspiration from Mackenzie!). KITSI have these kits bookmarked: [1], [2], [3], [4].
