It’s A Thing 1.11.19

Today is our 11-year Friendaversary! We are celebrating our golden anniversary this year since it’s 11 years on the 11th of the month! We’re keeping it pretty simple this year (we made golden soup for dinner!) but check out what we did last year here. πŸ™‚

  1. I’m heading to Italy in two days! Very excited for a week away with my sisters. My sister that lives there speaks Italian fluently and she and her boyfriend are going to take us on a driving tour of Northern Italy. I am very excited about the off-the-beaten-path travel ahead, it’s going to be a really fun and unique trip!

Doing a cleanse isn’t so bad when salads are this good!
  2. International flights normally have a good selection of movies but just in case I’m planning to load up my Kindle Fire with a few films, it will be good on my layover if nothing else! I love the blog posts that I’ve been seeing lately for what to watch on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.
  3. Not really sure how I feel about dessert hummus.
  4. I have been eating a ton of spaghetti squash this week. I had a good experience ordering it from a restaurant and I wanted to try to recreate the recipe at home. I ended up doing a simple spaghetti sauce with ground turkey, it was so good that now I am completely obsessed. As soon as I get back from my trip, I want to try some of these recipes: Spaghetti Squash Pizza, Spaghetti Squash Pomodoro, and this Creamy Cauliflower Spaghetti Squash Casserole.
  5. We are both big fans of Corepower Yoga, they track the number of classes you’ve taken and I am super excited to have just hit a big milestone – 700 classes taken since my first one in 2013!

  1. This lengthy Buzzfeed read that made the rounds about millennials dealing with burnoutΒ is a time commitment to read but definitely has some salient points. It reminded me about a similar conversation happening re: millennials where we were told so consistently that “you can be anything” that it got translated and absorbed into “you have to be everything.”

    The fanciest of mocktails!
  2. I loved Penny’s article on a stress-free Christmas. I’m not as good at spreading out the finances of the holidays over the whole year, but I do have a running “holidays” list going at all times for present ideas!
  3. This Little Free Library puts ours to shame! I for sure would have thought it was made by faeries and elves as a kid.
  4. I sent this article to Stella earlier in the week with the screaming cat emoji. Debt until you die?! No thank you.
  5. While my husband was traveling over the last week I had a lot more podcast-listening time in the mornings and evenings. I ended up bingeing the entire Women at Work podcast!
