It’s A Thing 6.21.19

  1. I am “halfway” through my pregnancy today, I just hit 20 weeks! Similarly to the first trimester, I really have not been feeling many symptoms but am finally feeling pregnant in that I am starting to show a little! Bring on the maternity clothes!img_1582
  2. My husband and I are headed to Hawaii today to celebrate my 30th birthday and have a little babymoon. I’ve never been before and can’t wait to spend a few days relaxing and exploring the island of Oahu. I really enjoyed this comprehensive list of things to do.
  3. My new apartment is on the second floor and very surrounded by trees and we have a pretty patio with plants as well. The whole place feels a bit like a tree house which I love. I’ve been wanting to bring some of the green inside as well so I have been doing a lot of research on indoor plants. I loved this list from NASA about air purifying plants that are hard to kill and have been spending way too much time researching planters.
  4. After hearing from a pregnant friend that Lululemon carries a pair of leggings she wore her entire pregnancy, I quickly turned to google and was amazed by the lengthy list of support for the Align leggings line by the pregnant community (Cosmo, NY Mag, Peanut Butter Runner, Yahoo, and so so many more!). I was a bit wary of the price tag at first but my yoga studio had a Father’s Day sale so I splurged and am so glad I did. They are incredible. These leggings are my favorite 2nd trimester purchase, followed closely by this pillow.

  1. Welp, we’re doing maybe a crazy thing today… we’re taking Baby Ernie on his first plane! My family is all back on the east coast and my mother has a beach house that she always rents out for the same week every summer. Last week I just got a bit homesick and a bit confident in our abilities to travel with a baby, and… booked a flight! I grabbed this car seat travel bag for the trip, and of course we’ve loaded up the diaper bag and I’m ready to baby-wear with our sling throughout the airport. Wish us luck :).

    Baby’s first hike!
  2. I think I’ve written about Emily Oster in at least 4 “It’s A Thing” posts in the last month or so… but here I am again, on her bandwagon! She wrote an article for The Atlantic this week about the perils of “doing it all” as a new parent. I so appreciate her style of research and writing that approaches her subject, in this case parenting, from an unbiased and analytical perspective with the mind of an economist.
  3. Super jealous of Julia and Thomas’ babymoon in Mallorca (part 1, part 2). What a beautiful setting to get some last alone time! I may or may not have added staying in a cliffside cave room at this hotel to my bucket list!
  4. My husband got me into the Judge John Hodman podcast. He’s been an avid listener for a while and actually went to the live show in LA recently, but we’ve both been enjoying listening to it on longer car rides. I always laugh at the outcomes and judgments!
