It’s A Thing 7.5.19

  1. I am traveling to North Carolina (my home state) this weekend for a family baby shower and (most likely) my last flight before our little Munchkin arrives in November. We are using our Southwest companion pass to fly at a discount. I am really sad that we won’t get more use out of it this year, but of course, the baby is more important than travel.123_1
  2. As soon as we started telling our friends that we are going to have a baby boy, the first thing they all asked was “any ideas for a name yet??” It felt like a flashback to when my husband and I got engaged and the moment we told people they had a million questions of where it would be and when. Luckily we already talked about it and decided that we wanted the name to be part of the birth announcement so even though we have a couple in mind, mum’s the word for now! I’ve been enjoying scouring the web for ideas and used Laura’s technique of checking the Social Security website for name popularity. I’ve also enjoyed this article of top 100 boy names (mostly I want to avoid the super popular ones, but great to be inspired!) and Nameberry for lists upon lists upon lists of names in all kinds of categories.
  3. I was excited to see that Delta is upgrading their economy offerings, even those of us in the cheap seats can get free bellinis and amenity kits on long haul flights! It’s almost like flying business class.
  4. I am really looking forward to Prime Day this year and have my eye on all kinds of things we’ll need for the baby. I was very excited to see that Amazon put out a guide for how to maximize your Prime Day purchasing.

  1. I’m a huge fan of Society6 and this week Design Milk featured a roundup of all things lemon! Stella’s a huge lemon fan and I saw a nursery that I sent her a while back that was lemon themed… perhaps this roundup can help her with some more inspiration!2019-07-03 09.36.00
  2. I haven’t gotten through this whole video yet, but I find the topic very interesting. Who knew it could be so easy to enter through such a variety of locks!
  3. For a month, Las Vegas is allowing people who have received a parking ticket to pay it off with a donation of school supplies. I love this kind of swap. The donation has to be of equal or greater value to the ticket, so those who received an infraction are still “paying the price” so to say, but in a very constructive way that hopefully makes people think about the value of their tax dollars.
  4. Continuing the Lucie’s List love in my postpartum days. It was such a great resource while I was pregnant, and has continued to be with their weekly email updates. Last week I received this guide to sleep scheduling and naps and it has been super helpful to reference as a goal schedule. Our little guy is, so far (knock on wood!), a pretty good sleeper, but I’m still taking all the help and hints I can get!
  5. I haven’t gotten back into a workout routine post-Ernie yet, and I have to admit I’m having a bit of trouble finding the motivation. I did have a jolt of “ooh, I should workout!” when I saw Kimberly’s roundup of summer-hued activewear, though. Will have to spruce up my workout wardrobe and get back to it!
