It’s A Thing 7.26.19

  1. A few friends sent us photos from our baby shower a couple of weeks ago and I love this one of me and my sister with the gorgeous mountain sunset behind us. In the photo I was 22 weeks pregnant, today I just reached 25! I am wearing a hand-me-down maternity dress from Laura, she wore the same dress for her shower back in February 🙂img_5317.jpg
  2. Since Laura and I will have babies ~6 months apart, I’ve been curious if they’d end up in the same grade in school. It keeps coming up and then slipping my mind and I finally remembered to google it today and found this interesting article about school-age in Los Angeles. Even though it focuses on private school, they outlined a bit about birthdays and your options for when your child can start school.
  3. I’ve heard rumblings before about airlines trying to make the middle seat a better option for planes and was excited to see this article this week with positive steps in that direction. When choosing a seat on a plane I often end up with the middle because I like to sit next to my tall husband who really needs the extra aisle legroom.
  4. I love this juice spot that has quite a few locations in LA (and beyond!) and I especially love their vegan ice cream. Though I am not a vegan, I do have an unhealthy obsession with ice cream and love that they offer this healthy alternative. They offer a membership where any item on their menu is always $5 for members and often do special offers, this month you get a free freeze (the vegan ice cream) with ANY purchase. Once this deal is up, I am thinking about buying one of these machines so I can make my own frozen treats at home!

  1. I’m all for technology helping make our lives easier…however I think there are definitely cases where it can go too far and Cubo’s “smart” baby monitor might be heading in that direction. Similar to the Owlet sock and Sense-U monitor, I think using technology in this way might lull parents into a false sense of security, when there actually is no replacement for physically checking on your baby. 2019-07-21 09.00.33
  2. Two bloggers I follow recently bought houses (Carly and Mackenzie) and have been starting to chronicle their design and decorating decisions. I love following along for inspiration! Also, love that Allie is back blogging at The White Apartment with a backyard update! Can’t wait to see more of their renovations and decor choices.
  3. I liked Millenial Money Man’s side-by-side comparison of Personal Capital and YNAB. I’ve never used YNAB but have friends and coworkers who swear by the methodology. I am, however, a devout Personal Capital user (see our posts on Using Personal Capital to Track Your Expenses and 5 Personal Capital Tips) and love reading about how other people use it, too!
