10 Podcasts We’re Loving Lately

It’s been a minute since our last podcast update (see a few from the last ~two years here and here, our entire week dedicated to podcasts we love here, and a rundown of pregnancy and motherhood podcasts to listen to here), and we thought we’d update our favs list with the ones filling our playlists lately!

A Thing or Two

Claire and Erica are back! We were hoping their podcast would outlive the shuttering of their online venture, Of A Kind, and we were so pleased to see new episodes coming out. They’ve done two shows (first, second) recapping the closure and what’s next for their team which was super interesting to hear about, especially if you’ve read their book, ‘Work Wife.’ Loving that this duo is still sharing their favorites of the week, new finds they’re loving, and general life/friendship/motherhood/management anecdotes!

The Dream (season 2)

We loved season one of The Dream and were pumped to hear that season two was going to deep dive on something new. “Wellness” is definitely something we’re both very aware of given our yoga practices, that we live in Los Angeles, and because we both very recently went through the pregnancy and birth phase of life (this week’s episode was so good! struck so many chords!). Color us impressed so far with this season’s path of research.

Without Fail

In line with our ever-present interest in entrepreneurial ventures, Without Fail has been such a fun show to keep up with. Co-founder and CEO of Gimlet Media, Alex Blumberg hosts the show which has a new guest on every week chatting about their road to success. Guests range from film executives and the CTO of Netflix to podcast heroes, the first African American James Beard Award winner, and the woman who transformed Teen Vogue’s voice.

ChooseFI

We love this crowd sourced view on the world of financial independence. Hosts, Brad and Jonathan, have a unique twist on typical interview format of most finance shows. They spend every other episode recapping what they’ve talked about with their guests and involving the audience with questions and real wold examples of how to apply the tactics taught by the experts of the field. This show is binge worthy from the beginning but we recommend starting on episode 100 to get an idea of what it’s all about.

Reset

Vox launched this thrice-weekly podcast late last year and we’ve appreciated its entry into the world of tech news, especially from a decidedly female perspective, something often missing in that space. It’s keeping us up to date on all the Black Mirror-esque innovations in our current day and age.

Bad with Money (season 5)

It’s a little crazy that Gaby has been doing this podcast for five seasons already, but we’re (still) so here for it! This go-around has her focused on all things money outside of the U.S. She’s clearly trying to answer a very personal question (can I/should I live outside America?) while keeping her content applicable to listeners as a whole.

Committed

Host Jo Piazza continues to draw out the water works with her series on relationships that have stood the tests of time, sickness, jail, and so much more. To say these stories are inspiring would be an understatement, but the storytelling also brings levity to circumstances that might normally be pretty big downers.

Skimm’d from the Couch

As if you need to hear from someone else to subscribe to The Skimm newsletter (if you haven’t, do it, do it now!), but we also are big fans of their podcast. A departure from their newsiness venture, Skimm’d from the Couch is an interview-style show going deep on career advice, life lessons learned, and ambitious goals achieved.

Motherhood Sessions

We mentioned this one already in our roundup of pregnancy and motherhood podcasts, but thought it deserved another shoutout here. If you’re a new mom or soon-to-be-mom, we can’t recommend this one enough. It gives voice to so many fears, apprehensions, and concerns you might be feeling in a way that feels safe and heard.

Unladylike

The expectations of how women should live their lives are so painfully real at times, and hosts Cristen and Caroline have done a beyond wonderful job at debunking and challenging many of those expectations they’ve identified. They take an equal parts serious and humorous approach to calling out The Patriarchy™️, always being sure to end on a positive call to action or unarguable certainty that there is an upside.
