It’s A Thing 4.25.20

  1. We have been trying to use our patio as much as possible lately as an easy way to “get out of the house” and get some fresh air but still stay socially distant. We’ve actually been using our beach chairs a lot rather than our patio furniture because it puts us at the same level as Colby when he is in his bouncer. And he’ll sit there totally content for a half an hour bouncing like crazy and playing with the toy bar.

  2. I have been really into cooking again. I took a bit of a break when Colby was a newborn but now that he is more independent and my husband is working from home – yay extra hands! I’ve been using all my free time to tackle new recipes and even getting into baking (usually I’m not one for measuring or timing things so this is new for me).
  3. One of our friends started a new Instagram account chronicling all the recipes that she’s tried and liked. She does a great job of highlighting the recipes and showing easy substitutions. It’s a lot of wonderful healthy eats and great for inspiration.
  4. My husband subscribed to the Atlantic and it’s quickly become our favorite way to consume news. I’ve mostly been reading coronavirus articles but also enjoyed this article about parenting and how the current world is changing things. I’m also newly obsessed with Juliette Kayyem after seeing her on a “state of the events industry” webinar this week.

  1. Greatly enjoyed a lot of these “If I Wrote a Coronavirus Episode” write-ups from Vulture. A few more I would find funny reading: Friends, The OC, and Grey’s Anatomy (can you imagine… like they need an excuse for more drama).2020-04-17 14.50.22
  2. With my husband still working full time (if not more) and me being on full time Ernie duty, there is not a lot of extra time in our lives. That being said, if I did have time, I would be investing 100% of it in many of the suggestions from this week’s Call Your Girlfriend episode. Fran and Amina’s conversation had me itching for a tv binge session.
  3. Trying to come up with some healthy snacks to have on hand so we’re not constantly depleting our ice cream stash🤦🏻‍♀️. Beyond our regular hummus routine, I also love the sound of these crunchy chickpeas from I’d Rather Be Meryl!
  4. We’ve been spending a lot of time working on our backyard garden this year. We’re very lucky to have the space to have three raised beds for peppers, eggplant, squash, and tomatoes, as well as some avocado and citrus trees, and some planters with herbs and hot peppers. If we were strapped for space, though, I really like the look of this “rotofarm.”
