It’s A Thing 5.29.20

  1. I have been cooking like crazy lately. It’s been really fun to experiment with new recipes. My favorite that I’ve made this week has been King Arthur Flour’s Crispy Cheesy Pan Pizza. I already have a second batch of dough in the fridge for this weekend. img_4473
  2. One of my favorite things about Southern California is the abundance of delicious fresh produce. I’ve been so impressed by all of the community effort that so many people are putting into supporting farmers’ markets.
  3. I’m very much looking forward to this new book from the publishing arm of ChooseFI all about pension plans. It’s only available for pre-order at the moment but with Amazon tending to be a bit backed up, putting a copy on hold seems like a good idea!
  4. Per Laura’s recommendation, we just got Colby a Skip Hop Activity Center and he LOVES it. I am trying to limit his time in it a bit and only pull it out at the end of the day when I am tired but I love watching him light up as I walk into the room with it. It’s been so cool to see him start to have favorite toys.

  1. This two parter (one, two) from Call Your Girlfriend really gave voice to a lot of feelings I’ve been having about the upcoming election. It is possible to feel two things at once: this is better than the alternative and also I’m not happy about it.2020-05-28 13.29.43
  2. I have a flight I need to cancel because of Coronavirus. I’m super sad to be missing the trip, but also pretty overwhelmed at the to-do list aspect of canceling plans. Trying to take inspiration from this post on getting a refund from American Airlines.
  3. The Bold Type is back as my destress/need to ignore the current problems of the world show. The final three episodes of the season are coming up in a couple of weeks and I cannot wait.
  4. Using this TFD list to roundup some Alison Roman recipes to try. I haven’t been cooking a ton (my husband has!), but probably I should start contributing a bit more to our dinner plans.
  5. I’ve been noticing that silicon is really having a moment lately. I’ve succumbed to Instagram ads for this loofah-alternative scrubbie and these reusable Stasher bags and have been pleased with both purchases; and we also love this placemat and these bibs for Ernie (Skip Hop also just came out with some cute designs if you think the standard ones are… ugly😉).
