It’s A Thing 8.14.20

  1. I’ve tried really hard to not buy Colby clothes (thank you Laura for all the hand-me-downs!) but I just couldn’t resist these baby overalls from Old Navy.

  2. Colby is really getting into pincer foods. It’s been so fun to share food with him and watch him master his new skill. There have been very few things that he has refused and I’m amazed by some of the crazy combos he ends up loving — seems like he and I will have similar taste buds! I’m obsessed with these foldable silicone bibs and this little chair that we can use at the table or at a backyard picnic.
  3. This movie made me laugh a lot.
  4. I’m newly obsessed with Karen’s 365 Days of Crockpot blog. My favorite meals that we’ve tried this week are the Dirty Rice Casserole and the Honey Garlic Pork. I love that both of these dishes can be made in the Instant Pot fully and you don’t have to use a second pot to make rice or side dishes. Both of them were delicious and the whole family enjoyed!
  5. Last week, I wrote about switching diaper brands, but I am back on board with Costco for a while since they just added a discount to their store brand diapers which makes them even more affordable.

  1. I’ve been using my Buy Nothing group a lot lately. We’ve been exclusively doing grocery curbside pickup, and always there are substitutions made to our order. Usually they’re fine, but we’ve had a few recently that we just didn’t want the substitution and it hasn’t felt necessary to try to return it. Enter Buy Nothing! We’ve gifted on those extra groceries, and I even snagged a bicycle toddler seat (like this one) from a neighbor!

Vienna-inspired open faced sandwiches for lunch!
  2. I ordered this “I am Mama” sweatshirt from @heybelovedmama (Kierra Henderson) on Instagram and am really loving it (even in the summer heat!). Kierra started the I Am Mama campaign after the murder of George Floyd and has been spreading an uplifting message in a time of bereavement.
  3. I’ve been very interested in reading up on Adventurous Kate’s life throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. I’ve been following her since college (wow…. that’s a lot of years) and the life of a travel blogger is often aspirational and lovely to think about; and yet, there is probably no other job I would want to try to be saving during theseĀ uncertain times.
  4. Yay thank you Ben & Jerry’s for releasing their safe-to-eat-raw cookie dough recipe.

Let us know what you think!
