It’s A Thing 3.5.21

  1. My sister just completed a photography project for Haand – Handmade Porcelain Potter, and it has me totally inspired. I can’t wait to have my own kitchen again (we’re renting a furnished place at the moment) and have my favorite kitchen items back.
Westbrook, Maine

2. It’s still pretty cold here in Maine, but we are trying to get as much time outside as we can. Colby has gotten a little heavy for our hiking backpack carrier so we’ve upgraded to this jogging stroller and decked it out with a footmuff (stroller sleeping bag). It’s been a total game-changer for us getting out and about.

3. I’ve been pretty burnt out lately (always?) and feeling a bit uninspired meal-wise. So I decided to snag an intro deal and try out some meal kit deliveries again. It’s been really nice to have someone else do the shopping and recipe picking for a change.

4. I just finished reading Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano. It’s the story of a 12-year-old boy who is the sole survivor of a plane crash that kills all of the other 191 passengers. I enjoyed the book, it’s unlike anything else I’ve read, and am glad I was inspired to pick it up by one of the celebrity book clubs I started following last year.

1. I found this Frugalwoods case study very interesting as it’s profiling a young woman from LA! I love the case study features as I very much have a voyeuristic interest in how other people use, accumulate, and spend money. This one was even more so as the writer is definitely grappling with questions that I have (specifically around staying vs leaving LA).

2. This photography project by Angélica Dass is super captivating as it, “[attempts] to document humanity’s true colors rather than the untrue labels “white”, “red”, “black” and “yellow” associated with race”

3. We’re making some progress on plans for our second story renovation and with it comes lots of Pinterest and design blog surfing trying to figure out what style and design aspects we’d like to include. This week’s current rabbit hole was all about bathroom vanities, spurred by this Element of Style blog post.

4. Throughout the pandemic I’ve really enjoyed being a part of my local Buy Nothing Group. Loved reading this post from She Picks Up Pennies detailing all the ways she has also leveraged being a part of that neighborhood group in her area.
