It’s A Thing 11.9.18

  1. My husband and I celebrated 9 years together (dating, not our wedding anniversary) last weekend. We went out for fancy sushi at one of our favorite spots, Sugarfish. I love this old photo of us from when we first moved to LA and were walking on one of the studio lots. No automatic alt text available.
  2. We voted this week! Loved the way theSkimm encouraged everyone to get out and vote and greatly enjoyed this episode of Planet Money about an election experiment in Seattle.
  3. Laura and I have both been obsessed with Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups for several years, we’ve had to make an “only one a day” rule so that we don’t eat the whole container in one day. I just found something that I might like even more… these are so so delicious, I am extra struggling with the rule. It’s like the peanut butter cups and Girl Scout’s Peanut Butter Patties merged together.
  4. I’m headed to Phoenix & Sedona this weekend for a quick weekend trip. My husband and I are trying to squeeze in a few last flights with our Southwest Companion Pass (buy one get one free flights!) before it expires at the end of the year. We’ve got our eye on a few hikes, wineries and a few other not-to-be-missed attractions that we can’t wait to check out!

  1. 2018-11-04 17.01.28Obviously, I’ve been holding out on some “It’s a Things” lately because a lot of my internet reading and exploring has been baby and pregnancy-related! Now that I can share, I’m sure I’ll have at least one or two links a week more in line with my current life situation (and all-consuming thoughts). I found this week’s New York Times piece on the “age gap” in when women decide to have kids pretty interesting. I definitely fall into my cohort and education level as an average.
  2. I saw the video of Natalie Portman giving this speech pretty immediately after Variety’s Power of Women event this year and was blown away. She’s always so well spoken and everything she brought up in this speech struck hard and deep chords.
  3. I only went “official” wedding dress shopping once (because I knew my mother was going to make mine, but Stella and I were on a girl’s trip with our good friend, Amy, and felt like it was a fun activity to do while all together), but got to accompany Stella on a few try-on sessions, and had such a fun time doing so. I loved this sneak peek into Krista’s dress process!
  4. I’m always looking for ways to lower our grocery bill and liked all the different ways this Acorn article suggested. Definitely some ideas in there that hadn’t occurred to me yet!

  1. I love all things about this post, in particular dark chocolate PB cups from TJs, Natalie Portman and Arizona! I ran a marathon in PHX in Jan and really loved being there. I may have to put Sedona on my calendar in the next year or so!!
