It’s A Thing 6.14.19

  1. My husband and I attended a very fun wedding last weekend complete with a bounce house, food trucks and dinosaur centerpieces. As you may remember from last week’s It’s a Thing, I was majoring struggling with what to wear since I am in a strange in between stage where normal clothes don’t fit and maternity clothes are too big. I ended up going with this BCBG High/Low Drape Dress and it was perfect. I was completely comfortable all night! wedding guests
  2. Given our recent big news, we’ve put wanting to buy a house on hold for a little while. I still day dream about owning our own place one day and enjoyed reading this article about buying vs. renting. I am a huge fan of Wealthfront (writers of the article) and use them to invest extra cash in hopes of one day having enough for that big down payment! If you use my link to sign up, your first $5,000 is managed for free.
  3. My first baby shower is coming up quickly, we planned it a little last minute because of family timing so I’ve been spending a lot of time researching strollers, car seats and cribs! I love that Emily Oster (author of Expecting Better) put out a list of her recommended items. I’ve chosen to register on Amazon because of the convenient 2-day shipping, lovely Welcome Box and 90-day return policy for registry gifts.
  4. June is birthday month for a ton of our friends and family. I’ve been mailing out lots of Trader Joe’s cards this week. I love that they are only a dollar and always have a fun unique design. I’ll be turning thirty in a few weeks and want to add to my bucket list the way Laura did a few weeks ago for hers.

  1. Last year Mrs. Frugalwoods wrote a phenomenal post about her struggle with postpartum depression that I think was a great way to open up the conversation around one of the many things surrounding the postpartum experience that are not often discussed. This week she had a guest writer explain her experience with prenatal depression, something I had never heard of. I so appreciate these women, and many others, who are opening up about their experiences that have gone un-talked about for way too long.2019-06-11 07.06.09
  2. The Bold Type season 3 is killing it. I’ve loved this show from episode one and they continue to make a show that showcases strong female friendships, women lifting each other up in the workplace, and basically all the feministy, lady-empowerment moments you could hope for. Bonus: the show’s soundtrack is a great place to discover all your favorite new women in music!
  3. I joined my neighborhood’s chapter of MOMS Club this week and really enjoyed the outing! Hoping this is the start of a new network of mom friends.
  4. My husband and I just recently read ‘The Giving Tree‘ to Baby Ernie for the first time, so when this reddit post popped up obviously it gave me all the feels. 💕🌳
  5. Taylor’s new song is on repeat for me. Duh.
