  1. My family threw us a fabulous baby shower last weekend in the mountains of North Carolina (where I grew up). It was so wonderful to spend the whole weekend dedicated to our little guy. My favorite gifts were a handmade blanket and diaper bag from this local artist, a lawn dish drying rack, and so many books (1), (2), (3)!

  2. While I was home visiting family last week, my mom made this delicious baked oatmeal recipe. It was healthy and filling and made me think about upping my breakfast game. Even though we managed to eat the whole thing, I think it would re-heat really well for leftovers during the week at work.
  3. My cousin is pregnant with her second and she recommended a few books that I was super excited to put on my summer reading list: Birth Without Fear, Birth: The Surprising History of how We are Born, Brain Rules for Baby and Great Expectations: The Essential Guide to Breastfeeding.
  4. My new dream is to fly in one of the new ANA Business class rooms. Wow.

  1. Super stoked to hear about the Memory Lab Network project and that Los Angeles is a participating city. I have a lot of physical photos and videos from my childhood that I would love to have access to in a digital format. Would definitely make me less nervous about the fact that they all only exist in one place and could easily be lost.

    tummy time!
  2. A couple of dramatic long reads caught my attention this week. First up: The Cut’s saga of a Brooklyn Heights preschool. It has everything you’d want in a soap opera-esque story of childcare — celebrities, millennial parents with fancy jobs and firm opinions, outrageous gifts, and a board with the power to fire. I stayed up too late reading this one because I couldn’t go to sleep without knowing how it all ended!
  3. Second on my long reads list of the week: Vanity Fair’s profile on Byron Bay, Australia’s newly defined influencer scene. I make a point not to follow anyone on Instagram that I don’t know in real life (save for Taylor Swift) because I don’t love the feeling of being presented with picture-perfect kitchens, yoga poses, and mothering examples that aren’t necessarily realistic or attainable, but fall much more in the “aspirational content” category. This article addresses that and more and delves into the personal lives of a friendly group of influencers who have all set up camp in a beachy, off-grid-esque life with their broods.
  4. I have a post in the works all about pregnancy and motherhood-related podcasts so I’ve been bingeing Ali on the Run‘s “Motherhood Mondays” series (and loving it). Would love any other favorite listening recommendations!

  1. I love that tummy time photo, he’s growing so fast! I’m impressed with how much reading you two do. I had one book that I wore out when I was pregnant. “What to expect…” I bought the “What to expect the first year…” too, other than that I was too tired to read! Congrats on all you accomplish.
