Target’s Baby Welcome Box: How to Get it & What’s Inside!

We’ve done a few baby registry welcome box reviews (see Amazon and Wal-mart) and to round it out, I’m adding the last place that Laura and I decided to register: Target.

Target is a super convenient place to register since they have stores nationwide and an easy to use online platform. Even though I am big on online shopping, I found that a lot of people that wanted to buy us gifts really wanted to go in person to the store to pick things out.

Just like Amazon, Target’s registry comes with a completion discount that’s super handy for buying the last minute things you’ll need before baby’s arrival.

You can pick up the welcome bag at the customer service desk in person at any store. This is the same place you’d go to make returns so it’s pretty convenient to do that at the same time if you’ve gotten something you no longer need or a duplicate. They didn’t scan my registry barcode when I went so I imagine you could pick it up multiple times if you wanted to.

Now on to… what’s inside!

The welcome bag is full of deluxe samples and coupons for you and your little one. It’s a good idea to pick this up before you use your completion discount or buy things for yourself so that you can check the things out and also get an idea of additional savings you may be able to cash in on.

A lot of the coupons matched items that you also got a sample of inside the bag so you’d get a chance to try it out and then could save on the future purchase. The coupons can easily be used in-store or online (type in code).

I also loved that they gave you a 50% off Starbucks coupon to be used at any Starbucks within a Target. It was a nice touch to add something for mom.

Speaking of mom … the bag contained two other items that were mom-specific. A sample of stretch mark cream and a set of disposable nursing pads and milk storage bags. The stretch mark cream looked fairly small at first but actually was a very large packet, way more than I could use at once.

I loved that these two items were included, it was nice to get a few things for me in addition to the many things I’ll need for baby!

The bag also contained samples of:

These samples had corresponding coupons either attached to the sample or within the booklet of coupons supplied by Target.

My favorite of these was probably the laundry detergent, in all my prep for baby’s arrival – I had a lot of laundry to do and knew it was important to use baby specific detergent until you know your baby’s sensitivities. It was actually one of the first coupons I used out of the book to buy a full-sized item.

Finally, the largest samples in the bag were for diapers (from Huggies & The Honest Company), Water Wipes, a Dr. Brown’s Bottle, and MAM Newborn Pacifier.

I was impressed that they give full items for these rather than just coupons (though those were included too). It was really nice to actually see the items in full-size and will make it easy to test the brands before committing and buying more.

Overall, I thought this was a great welcome gift. There were lots of sample sizes and promotional materials but the full-sized items and huge coupon book really made it stand out. I think the Target welcome bag is worth picking up for sure!

Has anyone else registered at Target and picked up the welcome bag? What were your favorite items to use for your little one? Let us know in the comments!

  1. I did a baby registry but seems i cant find a place to pick up the free welcome kit, 231st target didnt have guest services for a while from what i was told and had called Bronx terminal target for them to tell me they didnt have any kits at the moment. They said i would have to keep calling every location to find one that does. Seems like alot of running around and foot work which is taking the joy out of the experience.

  2. The nearest target is an hour away and the next 3 hours away from me and they say the baby box kits are out of stock online I was really looking forward to it but decided to go elsewhere with my baby registry Since no one was able to assist me or help me it was pretty frustrating
