It’s A Thing 4.17.20

  1. Last week I wrote about my sister’s new venture into mask making in It’s A Thing. And this week we featured an article all about the project. img_3963My mask arrived in the mail, it’s so much better than a bandana! I’ve been able to breathe better and also save my ears from the elastic pull of hair ties when on my few errands outside the house.
  2. What might the world look like after social distancing? It could be pretty weird.
  3. Love this suggestion from I’d Rather be Meryl to start making popovers, active dry yeast is so hard to find but my desire for carbs has increased 🙃. I need to invest in a popover pan stat.
  4. I’ve been really enjoying the Amazon Subscribe and Save feature lately. My favorite item this shipment was this cold brew coffee, it’s so delicious!

  1. I find the videos coming out of “deserted Covid cities” so fascinating. It all feels so other-worldy or apocalyptic-y. This one from Los Angeles was cool to see, as I know all the places so well, but have only seen them packed with people; and this one from Philadelphia really drove home how empty a place can be.

We’ve gotten inventive with what constitutes a “toy” lately…
  2. My husband has gotten into the cocktail game during quaran-times, and has been experimenting with different recipes. My favorite so far has been this New York Sour, a twist on the traditional whiskey sour.
  3. With our current grocery runs happening every two weeks (or more, if we can stretch it), I’ve been trying to think bigger picture on what we can stock our pantry with. Really appreciated this TFD rundown on “staples you can stop buying and start making.”
  4. And one just for fun. We have a glider/rocker in Baby Ernie’s room, but I know we won’t want it in our home forever once he outgrows the nursing and rocking stages. That being said, I’ve kind of gotten used to the rhythm of the chair and like the idea of a nice replacement rocking chair once it leaves. This one caught my eye this week!
